lyrics
I’ll tell you all that we won, even though the ship is sunk
I built it up, gonna break it down, spread the wreckage all around
I hid my soul far from ground; a lake of fire a sizzling sound
Don’t bring your truth around my lies my little fish, just close your eyes…close your eyes
You’re starting to wonder why you can’t feel anything
I’m tearing you down for fun, it’s just a casual sting
You’re drifting into the sea with a heavy load
And I’ll promise you I’m the one
I put you down, stand you up. Could it be you’ve given up?
Eat the fire, drink it down. Swallow hard there’s no way out
Will the truth set you free? Come in close now, close to me
What’s the truth when it’s all lies? Come on now, just close your eyes…close your eyes
You’re starting to wonder why you can’t feel anything
I’m tearing you down for fun, it’s just a casual sting
You’re drifting into the sea with a heavy load
And I’ll promise you I’m the one
I’ll tell you all that we won, even though the ship is sunk
I built it up, gonna break it down, spread the wreckage all around
I hid my soul far from ground; a lake of fire a sizzling sound
Don’t bring your truth around my lies my little fish, just close your eyes…
You’re starting to wonder why you can’t feel anything
I’m tearing you down for fun, it’s just a casual sting
You’re drifting into the sea with a heavy load
And I’ll promise you I’m the one

Extra Blue Kind started almost by accident as singer/guitarist P. David Hazel, drummer Randee Eimer, guitarist David Barajas, and bass player Ryan Plew, four Indiana University students, met at a house party one night and decided to play when the scheduled band didn't show up. It worked out so well that they started Extra Blue Kind, eventually moving to Indianapolis together to pursue their music further. On a whim they entered a radio contest, and upon winning it they had the opportunity to play at the city's X Fest in 2002 alongside Stone Temple Pilots and Breaking Benjamin, record a single, "King of Everything," and open for Creed to a sold-out 10,000 seat Robert's Stadium in Evansville, IN. Finally, in 2005, the band signed with Cincinnati's Opulent Records and released their debut full-length, Tide and the Undertow, but after a year of extensive touring, releasing an MTV-played music video for "Pinch, Blink, Stay Alive", and appearing on network television's G4TV, the band found itself suffering a few lineup changes and eventually washed up on the shore. EBK called it quits in 2007. That's the "reader's digest" anyway...
15 years later...
In 2022, after a few successful reunion shows, the original lineup of EBK is back, releasing new music, and out playing shows again...just cuz it's a whole hell of a lotta fun.
